Urban Valley

Urban Valley

Charles Thomas

Urban Valley Apparel began in 2013 by owner Charles Thomas with one goal in mind: to be iconic. As a longtime resident of San Francisco, Thomas was no stranger to the urban landscape, and wanted to create something that the city’s urban residents could wear to represent unity amongst those living in the concrete jungle. Thomas saw an opportunity to create the line in the Fillmore district when he realized “there wasn’t anything homegrown that represented the urban community as one, a unified front,” he explains. By featuring items for men, women, and youth, Thomas looks to appeal to customers of all ages. His logo, the signature “UV”, is filled with insignia that represents San Francisco, from the iconic muni bus, to symbols of public housing and more as symbols of resilience, style, strength, and hard work. By 2020, despite the pandemic, Thomas officially incorporated the business, and Urban Valley began.

Charles Thomas began the urban valley brand as a nod to his childhood in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley. His goal with the brand is to grow it to a global scale, as hopes to give back to the community. Urban Valley seeks to reach out to, collaborate with, and invest in other designers and budding entrepreneurs,  as they develop their inventory with designs that incorporate their ideas successfully, while making affordable apparel that everyone can be iconic in.
